The Hague: The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Wednesday called on Hungary to provide clarification regarding its failure to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by international justice for committing crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the ICC has requested that Hungary submit a clarification memorandum by May 23, 2025. This request pertains to Hungary’s failure to comply with an arrest warrant issued by the ICC for Netanyahu in November 2024.
The court, headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, reported that Netanyahu was in Hungary from April 3 to April 6, 2025. Despite the arrest warrant, the Hungarian authorities did not detain him during his visit.
As of now, Hungarian authorities have not issued an immediate response to the ICC’s request for clarification.
