Human Rights Watch calls on Israel to immediately stop unlawful attacks on medical personnel and facilities
RAMALLAH: Human Rights Watch said on Wednesday that the Israeli army’s repeated attacks on medical personnel and health facilities in Lebanon constitute alleged war crimes.
The organization added in a report issued on Wednesday that it documented three attacks in which the Israeli army unlawfully bombed medical personnel, transportation, and facilities.
Human Rights Watch called on Israel to immediately stop unlawful attacks on medical personnel and facilities, and called on Israel’s allies to suspend arms transfers to it given the real risk of their use to commit serious violations.
It pointed out the need for the United Nations to immediately open an international investigation, with the support of member states, into the recent hostilities, and to ensure that a team is sent to investigate immediately, collect information, draw conclusions related to violations of international law, and make recommendations for accountability.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Israeli aggression has led
to the killing of 163 health and hospital workers in Lebanon during the past year, and has damaged 158 ambulances and 55 hospitals, as of October 25.
