Gaza Death Toll Surges to Over 61,000 Amid Renewed Conflict

Gaza: The death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has surged to 61,499 civilians.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the total death toll in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 61,499, predominantly women and children, since the onset of the aggression on October 7, 2023. The number of casualties has also increased to 153,575.

Medical sources reported that within the last 24 hours alone, the bodies of 69 slain Palestinians, including one retrieved from the rubble, and 362 casualties were transferred to hospitals. The escalation followed Israel's unilateral decision to end the Gaza ceasefire agreement, leading to a renewed wave of airstrikes on Tuesday, March 18.

These airstrikes have resulted in at least 9,989 deaths and 41,534 injuries. Furthermore, approximately 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for and are presumed dead beneath the debris of their homes throughout the Strip.

The ongoing conflict has also caused the displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip, with most of the displaced population forced into the southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border. This marks the largest mass displacement in Palestine since the 1948 Nakba.
