Gaza: Medical sources confirmed on Monday that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 55,998, the majority of whom are children and women, since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023. The increasing toll highlights the severe impact of the ongoing conflict on civilians in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the number of injuries has escalated to 131,559 since the onset of the aggression. Many victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to ambulances and civil defense teams. In the past 24 hours alone, 39 deceased individuals, including one whose body was recently recovered, and 317 wounded people were admitted to hospitals across the Gaza Strip.
The sources also reported that the total death toll has reached 5,685, with 19,518 others wounded since March 18, following the violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli occupation. Over the past 24 hours, 17 aid victims have been taken to hospitals, alongside more than 136 injured individuals. This brings the cumulative total of hospitalized victims to 467, with the number of injured exceeding 3,602.
Medical sources further noted that numerous victims remain beneath debris and on the streets, with emergency services struggling to reach them. The situation continues to pose significant challenges for rescue efforts and humanitarian assistance.
