French voters headed to the voting polls on Sunday in the first of the two-round process of the parliamentary elections. The second round of the elections, which will be held on July seventh, will witness a tough competition between opposing political camps that aim to take as many of the 577 Parliament seats as they can. These elections come after French President Emmanuel Macron, dissolved the National Assembly after the far-right National Rally won with more than 31 percent in the European elections. Macron's political camp led by the current Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, has been trying to reduce the gap between him and the left-wing coalition for fear of the far-right party winning, led by their President Jordan Bardella. Local opinion polls have showed the National Rally leading in the first round of elections, by more than 35 percent of the votes. Source: Kuwait News Agency
