RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Israeli attacks waged against Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva following the remarks he made comparing Israel's aggression on Gaza to the Holocaust. The ministry slammed such attacks as prejudices and predetermined positions. In a statement issued today, the ministry expressed its support and deep appreciation for Brazil's president as a friend of the oppressed people and an advocate of justice, international peace and human values in the face of injustice, tyranny and crimes being committed against humanity. History has recorded the Brazilian president's honorable and inalienable positions, stressed the ministry. The Palestinian people have become well acquainted with President Lula's firm and strong positions in support of defending their inalienable rights, just like he stood by other people and humanitarian issues throughout his long career of struggle in favor of humanity, said the statement. This has made him the targe t of attacks by the enemies of humanity and justice, added the ministry. History has proven the pivotal role of such firm positions taken by President Lula in ending colonialism and dismantling and abolishing apartheid regimes, said the ministry, while stressing the similarity of South Africa's position. The ministry stressed that wider positions are required today to end the last apartheid regime in the world and stop Israeli colonialism from perpetrating a genocidal war against all Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip. The Ministry affirmed its full support for President Lula and the friendly Brazilian people, urging all the free people of the world and their leaders to support the rights of the Palestinian people and to stand on the right side of history.
