Ramallah: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, engaged in discussions with Christophe Bigot, the newly appointed European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, at the Ministry's headquarters.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Minister Shahin extended her congratulations to Bigot on his new appointment and addressed the ongoing challenges in the occupied Palestinian territories. She highlighted the severe conditions faced by Palestinians, including massacres, genocide, displacement, and starvation, and accused Israeli policies of obstructing the Palestinian government's efforts by withholding tax revenues and attacking Palestinian communities.
Minister Shahin urged the European Union to take immediate and decisive actions to stop the human rights violations in Palestine. She emphasized the necessity for the EU to work collaboratively with all parties to enable the Palestinian government to fulfill its responsibilities, particularly in Gaza. Shahin called for the EU to translate its policies into tangible actions that support a just peace and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
In response, Christophe Bigot stated the EU's position on recent political developments, reiterating support for the Palestinian government and the two-state solution as the basis for achieving peace.
