Post: Fatah Central Committee Addresses Political and Security Issues Amid Rising Tensions

Rabat:The Central Committee of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) discussed the recent political, security, and economic developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory, including the West Bank and Jerusalem, highlighting the severe repercussions of escalating colonist crimes amid a significant surge of violence.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the committee also examined the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, ongoing ceasefire violations, and the limited humanitarian aid reaching the population. The discussions included the Palestinian national dialogue and elections aimed at creating a comprehensive strategy to tackle current and future national and political challenges.

The committee emphasized the importance of achieving national unity, commending all national factions for their positive engagement in recent dialogues with Hamas, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Islamic Jihad, and other groups. It acknowledged the factions' commitment to addressing the challenges facing the Palestinian cause and their willingness to prevent divisions or the establishment of a political system outside of democratic processes.

In light of the Egyptian initiative for peace, the Central Committee expressed gratitude towards Egypt for its role in fostering dialogue and striving for an independent Palestinian state. The committee reiterated its dedication to comprehensive national dialogue under Egyptian auspices, affirming that elections are essential for building a national partnership.

The committee voiced concern over Israeli attacks on Palestinians, their land, and holy sites across the region, urging the international community to impose sanctions against Israel. It condemned the targeting of farmers, theft of crops, and damage to mosques and churches, attributing these actions to state-sponsored terrorism supported by Israeli institutions and the army.

Furthermore, the committee recognized the need to resolve internal issues within Fatah, following proposals by President Mahmoud Abbas. A committee was formed to implement strategies for unity within the movement. The Central Committee appreciated international and European support for Palestinian rights and called for renewed financial aid from the Arab world to support the Palestinian people, particularly in Jerusalem.
