Gaza city: Hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded five deaths in 24 hours, including three children, from famine and malnutrition amid the Israeli blockade, health authorities said.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the five deaths bring the number of fatalities from hunger and malnutrition in the region to 387, including 138 children.
Since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) issued an alert earlier this year, 109 deaths linked to famine have been recorded, among them 23 children.
Hospitals in Gaza continue to receive cases of malnutrition and famine around the clock, with medical teams reporting high caseloads.
An estimated 900,000 children in Gaza are suffering from hunger, and at least 70,000 have reached the stage of clinical malnutrition.
The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that malnutrition rates among children under five doubled between March and June 2025 as a direct result of the Israeli blockade on Gaza.
