An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Monday the South Sandwich Islands, a British overseas territory in the South Atlantic Ocean. The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 111.1 km. There were no reports of material damage or human losses due to the earthquake.
