MUNICH: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the displacement of generations of Palestinians and preventing them from returning to their homes to this day is one of the longest-running injustices in contemporary times. The recent escalation and the rising tension once again show that the Palestinian issue has always been the core of the Middle East issue, he added. Wang said that China stands firmly on the side of equity and justice, stating that it has worked hard for a ceasefire and an end to violence and has done its best to protect civilians. Wang said that China has worked to push the UN Security Council to adopt its first resolution on the issue since the outbreak of the aggression, adding that China also issued a position paper on the political settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli issue. He said that China calls for speeding up the realization of the independent statehood of Palestine and the convening of a broader and more effective international peace conference to realize the peaceful coe xistence between Palestine and Israel. He pointed out that Palestine never achieved its legitimate national rights and did not establish an independent state, stressing that this is the root of all problems and the essence of the Middle East problem. He said that the United States must work seriously to ensure the achievement of the ceasefire and the two-state solution. On Saturday, the top Chinese diplomat affirmed that his country would not allow the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip to continue. Source: Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA
