Detainees Face Severe Cold in Israeli Prisons Amid Blanket and Clothing Deprivation

Ramallah: The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reports that Israeli prisons are currently experiencing one of the harshest cold waves in years, with Palestinian detainees being deliberately deprived of essential winter clothing and blankets. This situation has turned the cells into icy environments, posing significant threats to the detainees' health and well-being.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the commission highlighted that the conditions inside the detention sections are more severe than those outside. Concrete walls in the prisons absorb moisture, metal beds become extremely cold, and chilly air infiltrates the cells throughout the night. Detainees are left with only light clothing, which fails to provide adequate protection against these harsh winter conditions.

The commission further stated that the conditions inside the cells have reached a critical level, underscoring the urgent need for intervention to address the lack of proper winter clothing and blankets for the detainees.
