SANA'A - SABA: Yemen's Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Ali al-Yafei has condemned the ongoing violations by UAE forces and their mercenaries in Socotra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In a statement to Yemeni News Agency (Saba), al-Yafei warned that the UAE's militarization of Socotra threatens its environmental and marine systems, risking its future as a global nature reserve and potentially turning it into a conflict zone. Al-Yafei criticized the international community's lack of response to the UAE's actions, which he described as part of a collaborative effort with the Zionist entity to control and exploit the island. He highlighted the detrimental effects of UAE military bases, the influx of weapons, and the manipulation of local loyalties through promises of citizenship and financial incentives. The Minister expressed grave concerns over the environmental damage caused by increasing tourism without adequate infrastructure, leading to pollution and waste. He urged both the people of Socotra and g lobal citizens to oppose these violations and work towards halting them. Al-Yafei reaffirmed that Yemenis' strong resistance to these colonial plans would ensure they do not succeed. Source: Yemen News Agency
