Ramallah: The "Media and the Palestinian Cause in Light of Digital Transformation" conference commenced in Ramallah, organized by Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie. The event, titled "Reality and Future Forecasts," focused on the role of media in highlighting Palestinian issues amidst the digital era.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Minister Ahmed Assaf, the general supervisor of official media, addressed the conference, emphasizing the significant role Palestinian media plays in exposing the crimes of the occupation. He highlighted, "Israel's failure to conceal the truth has led to the murder of journalists." Assaf reported that the Israeli occupation has killed 230 journalists and injured or arrested many others in efforts to suppress truthful reporting of its crimes. He called for global solidarity to support the Palestinian people and expressed confidence that truth and justice will ultimately prevail.
Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor Laila Ghanem reaffirmed the persistence of the Palestinian narrative, stating, "Our narrative will remain the right one." She condemned the genocide in the southern governorates and stressed the importance of exposing such actions. Ghanem lauded the Palestinian security forces for their role in protecting the people under difficult circumstances.
Representing the Prime Minister, Minister Amjad Barham conveyed greetings to conference attendees, underscoring the pivotal role of media in revealing truths about the occupation's actions and supporting the Palestinian narrative. Barham highlighted the destruction of educational institutions in the Gaza Strip as part of the occupation's attempts to stifle the future of Palestinians.
Conference chair Walaa Al-Battat discussed the transformative impact of digital media on the Palestinian narrative. She emphasized the global nature of the Palestinian issue and the importance of open dialogue and exchange of ideas. Al-Battat noted the threats posed by algorithms that may not align with justice.
