Ramallah: Israeli colonists on Friday erected a tent on a tract of Palestinian-owned land in Umm Saffa village, north of Ramallah, according to eyewitnesses. They reported that the colonists broke into the eastern part of the village and set up a tent just a few meters away from a villager's home.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the village council condemned this action, describing it as a grave development aimed at displacing the homeowner and seizing his property for colonial settlement expansion. This incident is part of a broader pattern of colonists' violence against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, which is seldom prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
The violence perpetrated by colonists includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes. Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, a presence that violates international law.
