A scientific expedition team of Chinese and foreign scientists set sail to conduct a 45-day scientific mission in the Western Pacific Ocean, as a first international expedition as part of the Digital Deep-sea Typical Habitats Program with the support and participation of 39 countries. Chief scientist of the mission and deputy director of deep-sea biodiversity conservation, Xu Xuewei, said the mission is a foremost priority to preserve biodiversity in the depth of waters in the future.
