Post: Chinese Ambassador Pledges Continued Support for Palestinian Statehood

Ramallah: The Chinese ambassador to Palestine, Sun Chen, has reiterated China's steadfast commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation and supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. During a press conference held at the Chinese Embassy in Ramallah, Ambassador Chen highlighted China's ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian and development assistance to Palestine and enhance the ties between the two regions.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Ambassador Chen emphasized China's dedication to the Palestinian cause, noting the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, which has achieved significant milestones in development and stability through socialism with Chinese characteristics. He also reflected on his meetings with Palestinian leaders, acknowledging the challenges faced by the Palestinian people and underscoring China's intent to further strengthen bilateral relations, marking the third anniversary of the strategic partnership between China and Palestine.

The ambassador detailed China's involvement in development projects across the West Bank, including infrastructure initiatives like artificial turf fields, Beijing Street, and the Palestinian-Chinese Friendship Square. He reiterated China's support for Palestinian national rights and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in alignment with the two-state solution. He condemned actions that threaten this solution, such as settlement expansion in the West Bank.

Ambassador Chen affirmed China's consistent voting in favor of international resolutions backing Palestinian rights and highlighted the country's diplomatic efforts amid the Gaza Strip conflict. He called for adherence to the ceasefire agreement and the facilitation of humanitarian aid, cooperating with the World Food Programme to address food insecurity and providing substantial support to UNRWA.

He also emphasized China's commitment to educational initiatives, noting the establishment of a Chinese language institute at Al-Quds University, with thousands of students currently enrolled. Ambassador Chen concluded by asserting China's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, pledging to collaborate with Palestinian leadership to implement agreements and launch new projects beneficial to Palestinian society and economy.
