Gaza: A child was killed and several other civilians were injured on Monday night after Israeli forces shelled a cart drawn by an animal west of the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Awda Hospital in Gaza reported that the body of five-year-old Nadia Mohammed Al-Amoudi, along with three other injured civilians, all from the Al-Jisr area west of the camp, were brought to the facility. The incident occurred after Israeli shelling targeted displaced families returning to northern Gaza.
Thousands of displaced residents began returning to Gaza City and the northern Strip today via the coastal Al-Rasheed Street in central Gaza. They had been forcibly displaced by Israeli military actions during the ongoing offensive in the region.
Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, Israeli forces launched a large-scale military aggression on the Gaza Strip, leading to over 158,000 casualties. The majority of these casualties were women and children, with more than 14,000 civilians reported missing.
The Israeli offensive has resulted in the displacement of over 85% of Gaza's population, with more than 1.93 million individuals, out of a total of 2.2 million, forced to leave their homes due to destruction. Additionally, approximately 100,000 residents have fled the Gaza Strip since the onset of the conflict.
