Cabinet Warns of Israel’s Plan to Reoccupy Gaza City and Displace Nearly One Million Palestinians

Ramallah: The Palestinian Cabinet issued a warning on Tuesday regarding a potential Israeli plan that aims to reoccupy Gaza City. This plan threatens to demolish the remaining neighborhoods, homes, and facilities, which would result in nearly one million Palestinians facing renewed displacement under dire conditions that lack basic life necessities.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Cabinet highlighted the scheme's potential to exacerbate overcrowding in the southern areas of the Gaza Strip, which are already in a devastated and uninhabitable state. These areas suffer from severe restrictions on humanitarian aid and a rapidly spreading famine.

The Cabinet also pointed out Israel's recent admission of targeting journalists, civil defense crews, and patients at Nasser Hospital, a crime documented live on camera. It called for this event and similar incidents to prompt stronger international pressure to halt what it described as Israel's genocidal actions against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as well as the unprecedented colonial expansion and settler violence in the West Bank.

During its weekly session in Ramallah, the Cabinet also addressed the deepening financial crisis and its impact on essential sectors like health, education, and security. This crisis is exacerbated by Israel's continued withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues. The Cabinet urged increased international intervention to release these funds, which are crucial for maintaining basic services.

Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to secure financial resources to meet its obligations. He instructed relevant authorities to implement measures that ease the burden on public employees, maintain essential services, and support areas affected by Israeli colonial expansion and settler attacks.
