London: Britain has announced its intention to recognize the State of Palestine next September if Israel does not comply with specific conditions set forth by the British government.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the recognition would take place during the United Nations General Assembly meeting unless Israel takes concrete steps to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and commits to a political process toward a two-state solution.
Starmer outlined that recognition would depend on Israel meeting four key conditions: halting military operations in the Gaza Strip, allowing the widespread and regular flow of humanitarian aid, pledging not to annex the West Bank, and engaging in a genuine political process leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.
The British Prime Minister confirmed that a final assessment would be conducted in September to evaluate the extent to which these conditions have been met. If no progress is observed, Britain intends to recognize the State of Palestine unilaterally, coinciding with the UN General Assembly.
