US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy reiterated Wednesday the importance of reaching a deal to end the nine-month Israeli war on the Gaza Strip. "The Secretary and Foreign Secretary discussed the need to reach a ceasefire in Gaza that secures the release of hostages and lays the groundwork for durable peace," State Secretary Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a press briefing. He added that Blinken and Lammy, who met today at the 2024 NATO Summit in Washington, D.C., underscored that NATO Allies are more capable and unified than ever. They discussed how both the United States and the United Kingdom are committed to investing in their respective defense capabilities. They also reaffirmed the importance of ensuring Ukraine has the economic, security, and humanitarian assistance it needs to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Miller pointed out.
