Jericho: The Palestinian-Japanese partnership is emerging as a strategic lever for the national industrial development of Palestine, according to the Minister of Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Industrial Estates and Free Zones Authority, Arafat Asfour. Asfour shared these insights during a meeting with a Japanese delegation at the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Asfour addressed the significance of advancing the Agro-Industrial City to attract investments and stimulate national economic growth. He emphasized that this progress is crucial despite the challenging conditions faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Jerusalem, exacerbated by economic restrictions from the Israeli occupation.
Asfour expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its substantial support of the Palestinian people, particularly in the industrial and economic sectors. He highlighted that the advancements in the Agro-Industrial City are a result of effective collaboration between the Palestinian government and the private sector, which has successfully attracted high-quality investments across various industrial and agricultural domains.
Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Matsumoto Hisashi, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the successful completion of the initial infrastructure for the second phase of the project. He reiterated Japan's commitment to supporting the Palestinian economy, emphasizing that the Agro-Industrial City project exemplifies the strong partnership and friendship between Japan and Palestine.
