Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited on Wednesday the Royal 5th Border Guard Battalion, a unit of the Eastern Military Zone. The army chief was welcomed by the zone's commander. In the presence of a number of senior army officers, Maj. Gen. Huneiti inspected the Al-Nashama border fence along the eastern borderfront of the Kingdom, which contributes to countering infiltration attempts and the smuggling of weapons and narcotics, stressing that the Jordan Armed Forces Arab Army (JAF) is committed to defending the homeland at any cost. Huneiti was briefed on the zone's efforts to counter various infiltration and smuggling operations, which include the use of drones and vehicles prepared and equipped for smuggling, in addition to the progress of operational and logistical matters in the zone's formations and units, in order to enhance their ability to carry out their tasks and duties efficiently and effectively. Maj. Gen. Huneiti toured the zone's front and inspected the re adiness of the Border Guards and the qualitative forces that support them in their security duty, lauding their efforts, especially those related to coordination between various security and military agencies to counter and prevent infiltration and smuggling attempts. He also recalled the martyrs of the Arab Army from the Border Guard Forces who gave their lives in defense of their homeland. The army chief also met with the battalion's officers and conveyed to them the greetings and pride of His Majesty the Supreme Commander, commending their outstanding level and high morale and their great efforts in various locations to stand united in the face of all those who try to tamper with the security and stability of the homeland with strength and firmness.
