Buenos aires: Argentine photographer Nicolás Marín, 25, winner of the 2023 'Recovering Nature' category award, announced his participation in a humanitarian mission to the Gaza Strip led by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. Marín shared his plans to join a convoy of over 50 ships departing from Spain on September 15th, intending to break the naval blockade on Gaza and deliver essential aid. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Marín revealed his intentions to the Argentine newspaper La Nación, stating that the mission will include activists, doctors, psychologists, media professionals, and legal experts from 44 different nationalities. Participants will undergo a four-day training session in Barcelona before embarking on the journey. Marín expressed his concerns about the risks involved but remained committed to the cause, describing it as "for humanity." He acknowledged the mission as the most perilous undertaking of his life, highlighting his selection for his skills in documenting th e mission and his maritime navigation experience. In 2023, Marín was recognized by the United Nations as one of its "Top 100 Young Leaders" and currently serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the organization. He made it clear that his involvement is driven by humanitarian motives, aiming to aid those impacted by war and hunger in Gaza and convey a message of peace globally.
