Arab Parliament Condemns Israel’s One-Way Rafah Crossing Plan as Forced Displacement of Gaza Residents

Riyadh: The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed Al-Yamahi, condemned Israeli statements regarding the opening of the Rafah crossing in one direction only, describing them as a move aimed at forcibly displacing residents of the Gaza Strip. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Yamahi, in a statement on Sunday, asserted that such remarks represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law, a blatant breach of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, and a clear attempt to impose new realities on the ground aligned with Israel's plan to eliminate the Palestinian cause. He stressed that any attempt to open the crossing in one direction is not a humanitarian measure but a deliberate policy of mass displacement and coercion of the Palestinian people under siege and bombardment. Al-Yamahi warned that these steps constitute war crimes and contradict international agreements that affirm the unity of Palestinian lands and the right of Palestinians to remain on their land. Al-Yamahi n oted that violations of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit continue to escalate, including blocking the entry of aid, targeting areas meant to be safe, and expanding military operations in Gaza. He said the insistence on circumventing the agreement aims to undermine international efforts to ensure a ceasefire and stabilize humanitarian conditions. He called for a full and lasting ceasefire, an end to civilian suffering, unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the start of recovery and reconstruction efforts, and preparations for the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities in Gaza, laying the groundwork for a new phase of security and stability in the region. Al-Yamahi emphasized that Gaza must be prepared for a dignified life for its residents within their homeland, not for forced displacement, and that the only path to security and stability is respecting international agreements, ending the Israeli aggression immediately, ensuring full humanitarian access, and initiating a serious politi cal process leading to the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
