Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit expressed on Monday his concerns of possible escalated military confrontations between Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon that might lead to a regional war. In a press statement, Abul-Gheit expressed full solidarity with Lebanon and condemnation of the Israeli occupation's threats against Lebanon, stressing that any escalation would constitute a threat to the security and stability of the entire region. "International contacts are being made to help avoiding the region more tension and to contain the current situation," he added. Arab League had previously warned repeatedly of the negative repercussions resulting from the continuation of the aggressive Israeli war on Gaza and the dangers of its expansion and entry into a state of major military confrontation and instability, he pointed out.
