Cairo, The League of Arab States has appreciated the mediation efforts made by the State of Qatar, Egypt and the United States of America in order to achieve a complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure the entry of aid, and release prisoners and detainees from both sides. In a statement today, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that it is necessary to end the humanitarian catastrophe perpetrated by the Israeli aggression, ensure the complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip as well as the return of the displaced to their areas, and launch a reconstruction process, within the framework of a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution based on the relevant Security Council resolutions, following a specific timetable and binding guarantees. Commenting on the proposal put forward by US President Joe Biden (last Friday) to reach a ceasefire, he added that it is important to see the extent of seriousness and response of the occupying force to the proposal, in dicating that the goal is to reach an end to the aggression, stop the suffering of Palestinian civilians, bring humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and begin to rebuild what was ravaged and demolished by the Israeli war machine.
