Ramallah: Approximately 91,000 Palestinian students are scheduled on Saturday to sit for the General Secondary Education Exams (Tawjihi) across the occupied Territory, according to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the Ministry announced that 51,499 students will take the exams in the West Bank, while 37,698 others are set to participate from the Gaza Strip. Additionally, 1,941 Gaza students who are currently abroad will also sit for the exams.
Students are distributed across various academic streams, with 55,751 in the literary stream and 25,349 in the scientific stream. The remaining students are enrolled in other streams, including Sharia studies, entrepreneurship and business, vocational education, and professional competency streams.
The Ministry spokesperson, Sadiq Al-Khudour, stated that the Ministry has completed all preparations for administering the exams. He explained that exams for students in the Gaza Strip will be conducted entirely online, while students in the West Bank will take their exams through the usual in-person format, except for the Religious Education exam scheduled for July 4, which will be administered electronically within examination halls.
Al-Khudour noted that conducting the Religious Education exam electronically is part of the government's broader transition toward digital education. The Ministry stated that Gazan students will take the exams through the 'Wise School' platform. Meanwhile, 1,941 Gaza students who were able to leave the Strip will sit for the exams this year from 46 countries around the world.
Should technical and logistical preparations be completed, the remaining exams for Gazan students will be conducted in person in examination halls, as per arrangements that will be announced at a later date. The Ministry also noted that 65 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons are sitting for the exams this year.
