The Parliamentary Committee for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances confirmed, today, Monday, that the statement of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, is a roadmap to confront the scourge of drugs. The Committee said in a statement to the Media Department of the Council of Representatives: "We followed with great interest the answers of His Eminence, the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani to the questions of the Knowledge Foundation for Culture regarding the use and trafficking of narcotic substances, which show His Eminence's keenness and the entire religious institution's keenness to confront this dangerous phenomenon by stating the legal rulings and the great impact that this has on educating society and defining its legal duties towards this dangerous scourge." The statement added, "We carefully considered the contents of His Eminence's answers and found that they draw a roadmap for all legislative, executive and judicial authoriti es on how to confront this phenomenon that has begun to eat away at the body of the state and society and calls on them to redouble efforts and give the drug control file priority in the state's policies." The statement continued, "For our part, we pledge to His Eminence that our committee will study his valuable answers that carry the contents of the tolerant Sharia and translate them into a tangible reality through legislative and oversight channels, and we will not rest until we accomplish all our legislative, legal and national tasks."
