The Joint Operations Command announced today, Saturday, holding an expanded security meeting to discuss the continuation of proactive security work against the remnants of terrorism. A statement by the command said: "With the aim of implementing the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, in pursuing the remaining elements of the defeated ISIS terrorist gangs within the areas of responsibility, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, and Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, chaired a meeting today, Saturday, at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command, in the presence of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army for Operations, the Commander of the Land Forces, the Director of Operations of the Popular Mobilization Forces, some of the weapons commanders, and a number of directors of security and intelligence agencies." The statement added that "during the meeting, the continuation o f proactive security work for all types and formations of our security units was discussed, as well as updating plans, evaluating the work of the security sectors, and the priority of upcoming targets, in addition to re-opening and tightening the ends and gaps between the operations commands. The importance of coordination between all security units and working in the spirit of one team was also discussed." The statement pointed out that "the attendees also discussed the recent major positive results achieved by the security leadership in destroying the dens of terrorism and continuing to pressure its defeated elements, in addition to intensifying intelligence efforts and dealing scientifically and thoughtfully with intelligence information and determining responsibilities according to this information and emphasizing joint security work between the units of the Ministries of Defense, Interior, and the Popular Mobilization Forces and all departments and agencies." It continued, "The attendees discussed the m echanism for continuing to develop the capabilities and potential of our security forces, arming them, raising the level of readiness and intensifying training, in conjunction with the upcoming national entitlement and relying on Iraqi self-capabilities, developing them and maturing them, as a result of the great experiences gained by our units in various battles, in addition to the great interest of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in re-arming and equipping our heroic security forces to keep pace with the development taking place in the armies of the world in a manner that is compatible with the challenges."
