Amman: A declaration of intent for friendship and collaboration between the cities of Amman and San Antonio was signed by Yousef Al-Shawarba, the mayor of Greater Amman Municipality, and Ron Nirenberg, the American mayor of San Antonio. The move came during Al-Shawarba's visit to the American city of San Antonio with the delegation from the Greater Amman Municipality. with the intention of looking at potential areas of collaboration and sharing best practices and experiences between the two cities. The signing of the memorandum, according to Al-Shawarba, is a significant step toward strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Amman and San Antonio as well as their joint membership in the Global Migration Leadership Council. It also reflects their desire to broaden their exchanges in the fields of municipal, cultural, economic, and social work. The mayors of Amman and San Antonio, as well as their technical teams, met bilaterally. The agenda items included sharing experiences in public transportati on, particularly with regard to the BRT project and smart cities, service automation, renewable energy, economic development, leadership, and addressing urban challenges. Due to climate change and refugee issues, it was decided to establish cooperative follow-up teams from both sides with the goal of broadening the scope of involvement, presenting work plans and programs linked to the future of projects in those cities, as well as deliberating over the specifics and coming to conclusions, and figuring out how to take advantage of these finished projects in future planning. Al-Shawarba affirmed the secretariat's commitment to supporting cultural initiatives, promoting cultural exchange, and organizing joint events and activities during a roundtable meeting with the local advisory committee culturingua, which is concerned with preserving the Middle East's artistic, linguistic, and cultural heritage, on the sidelines of the visit.
