Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed an investigation into the circumstances that occurred during the demonstrations of health professions graduates. Government Spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement: "In the government's belief in the right of all citizens to demonstrate peacefully in order to guarantee their legitimate rights legally and constitutionally, and in its commitment to the necessity of respecting freedoms and human rights in dealing with demonstrators from all sectors of the people, Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed the Joint Operations Command to investigate the circumstances that occurred during the demonstrations of health professions graduates today, Tuesday." He added: "Al-Sudani also directed the Commander of Baghdad Operations to be present in the field at every future demonstration; in order to prevent a recurrence of what happened today in terms of friction between security forces and demonstrators, as well as t he committee formed last week, headed by the Minister of Health, to submit its report on resolving the issue of graduates of medical and health professions and a statement on how to legally adapt that, within one week."
