Doha: Hussein Al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine and Vice President of the PLO, met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha. During the meeting, Al-Sheikh expressed the Palestinian leadership’s appreciation for Qatar’s efforts to end the Israeli aggression on Palestinians and facilitate humanitarian aid into Gaza with Egypt and other partners.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Al-Sheikh briefed the Qatari official on developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire and immediate humanitarian assistance. He reiterated the Palestinian position for Israeli forces’ withdrawal from Gaza and for the State of Palestine to assume full responsibilities, alongside a political process based on international legitimacy.
The discussions also covered bilateral relations, exploring enhanced cooperation across sectors, preparations for the Arab League summit in Baghdad, and the anticipated visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to the region. Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the Palestinian cause, based on international law and the two-state solution, including an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
