Western media in the Gaza Strip reported on Sunday evening that Palestinian resistance factions launched a barrage of rockets towards Tel Aviv and sirens sounded in central Israel. Al-Qassam announced that it bombed Tel Aviv "in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people." For its part, Western media in Jerusalem reported that sirens sounded in the Rishon LeZion area in Greater Tel Aviv, and an explosion was heard. The Israeli army said: "A rocket was detected launched from the southern Gaza Strip and fell in an open area in Rishon LeZion." The Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" indicated that "the air defense systems were unable to intercept the rocket that was launched from Gaza and exploded in Tel Aviv."
