Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, congratulated the Iraqi journalistic family and the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, recalling the great sacrifices of journalists in Iraq, Palestine and the world who gave their lives in sacrifice for the honest word and in defense of the freedom of their people. Al-Mandalawi affirmed, in a press statement today, Friday, the House of Representatives' full support for freedom of the media and the protection of the journalistic family in Iraq by approving solid legislation that prevents any coercive measures against them, and ensuring their safety with the aim of building a free and impartial press capable of achieving justice and peace and combating corruption and extremist ideas, as well as about contributing strongly to the process of building the country and the success of its democratic experiment.
