Baghdad, National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji headed today, Sunday a security delegation, along with a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Sulaymaniyah, to follow up the implementation of the border agreement between Iraq and Iran.
The Chancellery stated in a statement: “Al-Araji met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, and during the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the border agreement with Iran and the strengthening of security cooperation between the center and the region.”
Al-Araji confirmed during the meeting that the Prime Minister is following up and confirming his keenness to end this file, to preserve the sovereignty of Iraq, indicating that Iraq continues its endeavor to prevent the presence of any armed groups that attack neighboring countries from its territory.
Al-Araji added that there is great progress in the border agreement file, and we are in the final touches of the agreement, indicating that there is cooperation from the Kurdistan region to implement the remainder of the agreement.
For his part, Qubad Talabani confirmed the region’s readiness to cooperate with the federal government in completing this agreement, pointing out that there is progress in the steps to implement it.
During the visit, a meeting of the committee responsible for the border agreement with Iran was held with the security services in Sulaymaniyah, to coordinate work, implement the paragraphs of the agreement, and continue cooperation to achieve it fully. .
