New york city: A coalition of advocacy organizations and fan groups has urged European football associations to boycott the Israeli national football team and its players, ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, a billboard has been installed in New York City, which is set to host eight matches in next year's World Cup, including the final. The tournament will be co-hosted by Canada and Mexico alongside the United States.
The campaign specifically appeals to the football associations of Belgium, England, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Scotland, and Spain to impose a boycott on the Israeli national team. It also calls for a ban on Israeli players from participating in local competitions. This initiative is in protest against what the coalition describes as the ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip.
