A Preliminary Agreement Announced Between Iraq And Turkmenistan To Import Gas
The Ministry of Oil affirmed the government’s keenness to enhance prospects for cooperation with friendly countries in the field of gas, including Turkmenistan.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber, said, in a press statement today, Thursday, that “a senior government delegation held meetings with officials in the gas sector in the Republic of Turkmenistan, and it was agreed in principle to import quantities of gas to meet part of the needs of electric power stations, according to a memorandum of cooperation being prepared for this purpose, and it is hoped that it will be signed before the end of this year, and it includes the proposed quantities and the mechanisms that are approved between the two countries.
Saber pointed out the importance of this agreement, which represents an advanced step to expand horizons of cooperation with gas-producing countries, including Turkmenistan, which is one of the most important gas-producing countries in the region and the world.
