A child was shot with live ammunition and dozens suffocated on Friday during the Israeli occupation forces' suppression of the weekly anti-settlement march in Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya. Local sources reported that the occupation soldiers fired live bullets, sound gas bombs and toxic gas at the march participants, which resulted in a 14-year-old child being shot in the foot. He was transferred to a hospital in Nablus, and his condition was described as stable. Dozens of people suffered from suffocation and were treated in the field. The occupation forces stormed the village at noon and surrounded the Omar bin Al-Khattab Mosque, from which the weekly march starts, without any arrests being reported. It is noteworthy that the Kafr Qaddum march began in early July 2011 to demand the opening of the village street that was closed by the occupation army during the second intifada in 2003, and to reject the settlement plans. The road that was closed by the occupation connects Kafr Qaddum with the neighboring villages and towns, and facilitated the citizens' access to their lands and places. Its closure hindered the citizens' movement and exhausted them financially and morally, and forced them to walk through detours to meet their daily needs. Source: Maan News Agency
