An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 18 km east of Ambunti town in the province, at a depth of 61.6 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. No reports of human losses or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Papua New Guinea is located in the so-called Ring of Fire which is characterized by high earthquake and volcanic activity. This region includes 90% of the world's active volcanoes. In Feb. 2018, the country was hit by a devastating earthquake that killed at least 100 people and caused landslides that buried dozens of villages. Source: Qatar News Agency
