Amman: Thousands of people performed Friday prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the Israeli occupation authorities' strict military restrictions on entry to the holy place. The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) said that the Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem estimated that over 35,000 residents performed Friday prayer within Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation forces have tightened their protocols at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entrances to the Old City since the beginning of the comprehensive Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, including Jerusalem, in October 2023. At times, they have prevented Palestinians from the 1948 territories or citizens of occupied Jerusalem from entering the mosque. Additionally, the occupation authorities block tens of thousands of residents from the governorates of the West Bank from entering Jerusalem through its military checkpoints.
