An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale jolted the state of Mascara in western Algeria, on Saturday. No human or material losses were reported. In a statement, the Algerian Center of Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics pinpointed the epicenter of the earthquake which was 8 kilometers northwest of the city of Bou Hanifia in the state of Mascara.
