14 Dead Due to Famine in Gaza Over the Past 24 Hours

Gaza: Medical sources said that hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded 14 new deaths due to famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours, including two children who were exhausted by hunger.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the total number of deaths due to famine and malnutrition has risen to 147, including 88 children.

Gaza is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis in its history, as the severe famine overlaps with the ongoing conflict since October 7, 2023. Since March 2, 2025, Israel has closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, resulting in a famine outbreak within the Strip.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under the age of five doubled between March and June as a result of the ongoing blockade. The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, with nearly one in five children under the age of five in Gaza City suffering from acute malnutrition.

Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher stated that one in three people in Gaza has not eaten for days, urging for the rapid delivery of aid and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) highlighted that all citizens in the Gaza Strip are facing hunger, with children bearing the brunt of the crisis. Instead of attending school, children are risking their lives in search of food.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have launched an offensive on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of 59,821 civilians, the majority of whom were children and women, and injuring 144,851 others. This is a preliminary toll, with many victims still unreachable under the rubble and in the streets.
