Sana'a: The Republic of Yemen on Friday welcomed the announcements by Canada, Portugal, and Malta of their intentions to recognize the State of Palestine.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement praising this international consensus as a significant milestone toward ending a conflict that has persisted for over half a century. Yemen views this development as an important step toward achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
Yemen called on other countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take similar actions, in adherence to international law and in support of the Palestinian people's rights to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement reaffirmed Yemen's support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that recognition of the State of Palestine is both a legal and historical entitlement. Yemen stressed that this recognition is a genuine expression of commitment to justice and human rights, particularly at a time when international positions are essential to restoring faith in the two-state solution, in line with relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
