World Food Programme Urges Ceasefire to Facilitate Aid to Gaza

Gaza City: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has declared that a ceasefire in Gaza is the sole viable solution to ensure the safe delivery of food and humanitarian aid to the heavily besieged area.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the WFP, in a statement released on X, highlighted that while they have adequate food reserves to sustain all 2.2 million residents of Gaza for two months, the ongoing hostilities hinder safe distribution.

The statement further detailed the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, attributing them to Israel's stringent blockade. It underscored that after nearly 80 days of complete siege, the inhabitants of Gaza are experiencing severe food shortages and are unable to endure seeing food supplies bypass them.

The WFP underscored the critical need for large-scale and consistent food aid delivery and advocated for more secure and dependable access routes for humanitarian convoys. The organization also called for expedited permit approvals and the opening of additional border crossings to enable the flow of essential supplies.
