Riyadh: Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Al-Sheikh, met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Royal Court in Riyadh. The Vice President conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, expressing thanks and appreciation for the Kingdom's steadfast positions and efforts in supporting the Palestinian people and their cause.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Crown Prince conveyed his greetings to President Mahmoud Abbas and emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to achieve international recognition of the State of Palestine. He also expressed support for the success of the international peace conference scheduled to be held in New York on September 22.
During the meeting, discussions took place regarding the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, including the visa ban on the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations and ways to garner international recognition of the Palestinian state at the upcoming conference. The situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem was also addressed, focusing on settlement activity, colonists' violence, and the withholding of tax revenues.
The dialogue further highlighted the situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing priorities such as an immediate ceasefire, entry of aid, and linking Gaza to the West Bank under Palestinian sovereignty. The discussions called for a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and reconstruction efforts with Arab and international support.
Both parties affirmed their commitment to continued coordination between the State of Palestine and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to tackle current challenges and strengthen efforts towards ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
