Ramallah: Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh held a phone call with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, the Special Envoy of President Putin.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the conversation focused on the latest developments within the Palestinian arena, addressing issues such as the denial of visas to the Palestinian delegation at the United Nations and strategies to secure international recognition for the Palestinian state at the forthcoming international conference.
The discussion also highlighted the precarious situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, with particular attention to settlement activities, acts of violence by settlers, and the withholding of clearance revenues.
In relation to the Gaza Strip, both parties emphasized the necessity to halt aggression, facilitate the entry of aid, achieve a connection between Gaza and the West Bank under the sovereignty of the State of Palestine, and initiate reconstruction efforts.
The officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination between the State of Palestine and the Russian Federation. This partnership aims to address current challenges and bolster international endeavors to ensure the peace conference in New York proceeds as planned on September 22.
