Vice President Al-Sheikh Reaffirms Commitment to Release of Marwan Barghouti and Detainees

Ramallah: Vice President of the State of Palestine and Deputy Chairman of the PLO, Hussein Al-Sheikh, underscored on Saturday the ongoing efforts by Palestinian leadership to secure the release of Marwan Barghouti and other detainees held in Israeli jails. Al-Sheikh emphasized Barghouti's symbolic status within the Palestinian struggle during his visit to the Barghouti family home, stressing the unwavering commitment to this national priority.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Sheikh's visit served to reaffirm the Palestinian leadership's steadfast position on the issue of prisoners. Accompanying him were Raed Abu Al-Hummus, Head of the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Muwafaq Sahwil, Fatah Secretary for Ramallah and Al-Bireh, and several members of the regional committee.

Al-Sheikh pointed out the ongoing suffering of Palestinian detainees due to Israeli policies, describing it as a form of slow execution. He called for immediate intervention from international bodies and organizations to ensure the protection of the detainees. The Palestinian leadership continues to engage at all levels to advocate for their release, underscoring the importance of international support and intervention in addressing the detainees' plight.
