Ramallah: Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, convened with representatives of the E4 countries to deliberate on the forthcoming political responsibilities. This meeting, held on Monday, aimed to address the critical political developments anticipated in the coming period.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the assembly included significant diplomatic figures such as British Consul General Helen Winterton, French Consul General Nicolas Kassianides, Italian Consul General Domenico Bellato, and German Charg© d'Affaires to the Palestinian Authority, Ulrike Bormann. Also in attendance were Fatah Central Committee member Nabil Abu Rudeineh and Advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas for Diplomatic Affairs, Majdi Al-Khalidi.
During the discussions, al-Sheikh highlighted key political issues, expressing support for US President Donald Trump's plan and the Security Council resolution. He emphasized the necessity for Israel to cease its military activities in the Gaza Strip, an action he deemed essential for regional stability. Additionally, he pointed out the critical need for immediate humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip with the arrival of winter, calling for the release of all withheld funds and the cessation of settlers' violence.
Al-Sheikh also advocated for the removal of checkpoints that disrupt the West Bank and urged an end to persistent military raids in the region. He reiterated the importance of maintaining geographic connectivity between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, asserting that this is a crucial factor in achieving a just political resolution that ensures the continuity of Palestinian territory.
