Vice President Al-Sheikh Announces Readiness of Liaison Office for Gaza Duties

Ramallah: Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein Al-Sheikh announced the establishment of a liaison office by the Palestinian Authority, which is fully prepared to assume its duties in the Gaza Strip. This office is headed by Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Sheikh conveyed this information in a letter to Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the Gaza Board of Peace. The letter emphasized that recent communications with Mladenov, as well as consultations with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, were focused on supporting efforts led by President Donald Trump to promote stability and peace in the region.

Al-Sheikh detailed the welcome of President Trump's 20-Point Peace Plan and the recent United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), which, along with the establishment of the Office of the High Representative and the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, are seen as transitional steps to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza. The aim is to ensure administrative and security services without creating duality in governance between Gaza and the West Bank, reinforcing a unified system and legitimate authority.

The Vice President formally informed that the newly established Liaison Office, under the leadership of Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, is ready to coordinate and communicate effectively with Mladenov's Office. This development is part of a broader commitment to implementing President Trump's peace plan, supporting Palestinian self-determination, and establishing an independent State of Palestine as per international legitimacy and the United Nations Security Council Resolution.
